Day 10

Saturday, April 9th, 2011, day 10. Well, it's saturday today. Everyone is looking forward to the weekend. I know I was. After studying for the chem lab final, even though I didn't really study that much, I was looking to sleep in and do some laundry and clean up session. No. I had to be at work by noon because we are doing a clean up there. There were 4 of us last time and it only took about 2 hours. This time, there was only one. Me. Normally, I wouldn't really be happy about it, but today, I actually preferred to work by myself. I guess I'm still mad at my parents, and not happy with my sister (not really sure why though) and working really helped me at least not think about it.

At the hockey rink, we use baskets to hand out equipment. It contains pants, shoulder pads, gloves, shin pads and elbow pads. For some reason, a lot of gloves and elbow pads were missing. So that took a while to put things in the right basket after going through about 70 baskets. Actually it only took about 2 and a half hours. For doing that alone, I thought it was pretty impressive. Next, I had to organize all the helmets. Lot of them were missing screws and some of them had loose screws. I ended up sorting out about 70 helmets and fixed about 10 of them. Then there was a goalie equipment section. That one wasn't too hard. All I had to do was line up the pads against the walls, and put the gloves onto the right cubicle or whatever you want to call it. The last thing I had to do was counting the socks and hanging up the jerseys. I don't mind counting the socks but hanging up the jerseys was pretty painful. I had to hang the jerseys in numerical order and there were 3 colours with 40 jerseys each. So I had to hang 120 jerseys. Believe it or not, it definitely is painful. Afterward, I found out that we were missing 15 jerseys. And get this, number 4 from each colours were all missing. How weird is that? I wonder where they are. So anyways, overall, I really enjoyed my clean up shift even though I was alone. My boss came and went few times so I guess I wasn't completely alone. We talked a lot about hockey, and he gave me a drink (it wasn't a beer or anything, it was just can of coke but still, coming from my boss, it was pretty special I guess haha), and oh, he offered me a job for next year. If I want to work with the Campus Rec next year, they are looking for the Equipment Room/Timekeeper supervisor/trainer, and he told me that they are having a meeting with the facilitators and the coordinator to decide who to promote, and he said I was the first one on his list. How sick is that? I guess my 'hard work' really paid off. Although, I wouldn't have gone this far without any of them. Thanks.

Habs are playing the Bruins in the playoffs now. That's classic. That's like the third time they are meeting on the first round in last 4 years or something. They can definitely win that round. Easily. But this is playoffs. Anything could happen. I am so excited for it though. Playoffs are the greatest thing ever. I think I love the fans more than the games itself. I don't know what it is, but I really love it. Well, I'm going to go watch the Flames and Canucks game now. It's not a playoff game but oh well, it's the only game on now.

PS. I bought a Dustin Byfuglien jersey today. $40. I love Byfuglien and I love the Hawks so I had to buy it.

Day 8

Thursday, April 7th, 2011, day 8. I've been at home all day so far since it's thursday and I have no class. I ended up waking up at noon, again, and have not done anything productive since. I have a CHEM 102 lab final tomorrow, and I've actually started studying for it yesterday, and still haven't quite finish studying for it. I guess I should probably do that right now, right? haha.

I've been acting a little weird lately. I thought I'd be pretty happy since I got the job with Telus, but no, there's something else. I'm not sure what it is, and I don't think I'll ever know, but it's been really bugging me a lot and making me mad and grumpy and sad and depressed all day. What the fuck I hate this. Whatever it is, please go away.

I finally received my 8th jersey I ordered on eBay this morning. I love it. All the ones I've got lately are an authentic jerseys, and these kind of have been making me pretty happy. Not only because I saved about $800 on all the jerseys I bought, but it's one of the things I like to do now, collecting jerseys. Every time I look at them (they are all hanging on my walls right now), I don't know what it is, but it makes me feel good, inside and out. So, as long as I don't go into financial deficit, I'm going to continue purchasing jerseys.

I'm a little worried about the lab final tomorrow, because it didn't go so well last semester, and plus, now, with my final exam's weight is around 60%, I have to do well on the lab final so that if I don't do so good on the final, it could at least save me from failing I guess. Ya, I'm going to go study now.

Day 6

Tuesday, April 5th, 2011, days without my parents: 6. So I had that interview this morning. I actually woke up, well at least tried to wake up at 8am this morning to kind of prepare for this interview but I ended up waking up at 9:10am. I really had to rush, and I was speeding to get to the interview. Fortunately, I did get there in time. It kind of surprised me a little, because I thought it was going to be like a one-on-one interview, but turned out, it was a 'job fair' plus interview. It was actually great. Later, I found out that I won't get paid hourly, but I'd get paid for how much I've done. We will be doing cold calling pretty much. I had some experience with cold calling before. It didn't really go so well, because, I didn't get paid much, and I was pretty much alone, and my boss kind of sucked (except she was really hot lol). So back then, I'd get about 1-5 leads (it was for this painting thing) and that's actually not too bad, because, the average number of sales they make in a day, so in like 7 hours, is usually around 3 ish and if you do that for a week, you'd get paid around $2000! So back then when I did cold calling, I got around 2 a day and that was in an hour and a half! Imagine doing that same thing for 7 hours and I'd have around 8! That's going to be a big money. honestly, I hated cold calling back then, because I wasn't really getting anything out of it, but this is Telus, it's way bigger. It's a well-known company, and so far what I've seen, the people are great, my boss is great, I think everything is going to be great. Oh by the way, did I tell you I got hired? haha I was really excited.

After about an hour of introduction, there was a 1 on 1 interview. I was the third last one to go. I didn't really want to go first, because I figured they probably won't hire you if you go first. If I go later, but not last, they are going to compare me with the people before me. I thought that was a pretty good strategy. Anyways, there was about 8-10 of us, and only 5, including the other 2 sessions that was held this afternoon, are hired. I was pretty nervous about the interview. Me and my boss both knew I was lol. I was fairly honest with him, I didn't want to cheat and get the job, I wanted get it fair and square. I told him that I used to cold call and I think that's what got me hired. I was really surprised because there was a lot of smart people with us and my boss said he liked me. I'm not really sure what he likes about me, but that's great. That's really great.

I start my job on May 2nd. I'll get trained for the first couple days, and I'll start full time. I'm pretty excited, I have never worked with a big company like this so it's definitely something new. I'm feeling it might be a little tough, a lot harder than the old cold calling I used to do, but I've been doing good when it comes to work and I hope I can show them that I can do this real good with no problem whatsoever. We were told that if we showed them that we can do this, they will promote us as a manager so that's good. I kind of want to be a manager haha. Plus, there's a lot of prizes, like TV, laptop, iPads, and all that good stuff, and I want those so I'm going to try really hard. It should be a fun summer. I'm really excited.

I can already see myself driving a Skyline, my dream car, and moving out, and having a great year next year. Let's really make it happen. I can do this.

Day 5

Monday, April 4th, 2011, days without my parents: 5. I didn't go to school at all today. I woke up at around noon and I just didn't feel like going to school at all. I just didn't see the point of going. I mean, I don't know what we are doing in MATH 120 (linear algebra) even when I do go to class, so I just kind of gave up on going since my prof can't teach. And plus, there is like an individual class for this course, so I could understand all this stuff just by using textbooks and notes. And CHEM 102? It's pretty much the same as Chem 30 from high school. I mean, we learn like 1 thing and it's that one thing all over again for the rest of the unit, so why bother going? Again, I can just use textbook, and notes to study for the final. So I guess when I said I started to maturing up, I was wrong. I think I might've spoke too soon haha.

Tomorrow is definitely going to be different though because it's a big day for me. I have an interview with Telus at 10am tomorrow. I've been waiting and preparing for this ever since I got the email on friday. I have prepared well, like what I'm going to wear, how I'm going to answer the questions (they are usually the same old questions they ask at the interview) so ya, I'd say I'm good to go unless I sleep in again. When the alarm goes off tomorrow morning, I just got to realize how important this is and get my ass out of my bed. Although, there's one thing that's been bugging me about this interview. I was supposed to send an email back for a confirmation with the interview time I chose (there were 10am, 12pm, and 2pm and  I chose 10am) but I haven't heard anything from them since. Maybe they only send emails back if those spots are full? I don't know. I even called them today, but the guy wasn't there. So really, I may not even get to have an interview. Well, I only have one way to find out. I would have to go, and if I really get to have an interview, that's awesome, and if not, well, it'd be really embarrassing and pretty much ruin my plan, but what am I going to do, right? It's not really up to me if I get the job or not. So I guess I'll find out what's up with this tomorrow.

I worked again tonight. It was Division 1 and 2 finals tonight so, to the players, these were the games that really, truly mattered to them. I was pretty nervous to do timekeeping today, because last time, during the playoff games, people were getting mad at each other and the timekeeper, so there was a lot of pressure on me this time. I was so focused on the game, and watching every moves they make so I wouldn't get lost and not know what's going on. I think it went pretty well. I was trying really hard not to mess anything up and I almost didn't make any mistakes. Actually, it was a lot easier than I thought so that's good. There were a lot of penalties though, but I didn't get yelled at at all so I guess I did pretty good. Overall, it was a really fun night. The games were really good, made no mistakes, and etc. Tomorrow is going to be my last shift at the Clare Drake Arena. Honestly, I'm a little sad about it. Turned out, this hockey rink was like my sanctuary. This job and the rink kept me happy all year long. So, I think I will definitely work here again next year. No question about it.

Well, I'm going to bed. I have a big day coming up soon. Wish me luck everyone.

Day 4

Sunday, April 3rd, 2011, days without my parents: 4. It was really nice out today. Everyone was cleaning their garage, cars, and etc., and little kids were playing outside. I guess winter is really over and spring is coming. So that's good. I was kind of getting tired of winter anyway.

So I did talk to Jen last night right after I posted last blog. It went pretty good I'd say. I enjoyed it. We talked mostly about my problems this time, instead of hers. She actually didn't want to talk about her problems so ya. That's good too I guess. That means she's slowly changing and listened to my advice. So I guess it really worked haha. I was actually quite embarrassed to talk to her about my problems because they were nothing like hers. It wasn't just about school and parents, mine was about relationship and sex droughts. Ya, I know, right? Well, I had to tell someone about it so I could let it out. I guess blogging about this didn't really help me that much and I was kind of glad that I talk to her about it, until today.
I really don't know why, but I felt really sad and depressed today. I mean, Jen didn't leave my house until like 2pm but I barely talked to her or to anyone in the house. I wasn't sure why I acted like that, but I'm guessing last night's talk has something to do with it, I don't know.

To eliminate my anger/sadness/depression, I decided to clean my car. The interior was in a pretty bad shape. There were garbage everywhere, dirt, and etc., so I cleaned that up, and I still had winter tires on, so I put summer tires on it. I didn't feel like going to a car wash, so I just cleaned the headlights and taillights because they were so dirty that the light couldn't get through it so I couldn't see anything. Then, lastly, I filled up the windshield washer fluid. You have no idea how much you go through that in a winter. Lots. Oh, and another thing, I always wanted to have a cold air/short ram intake on my car. What it does is that it shortens the air passage to the intake manifold so as a result, you get better mileage and power and an awesome sound. The newer car's aftermarket parts are really expensive so I couldn't afford one for my car. I found out that I can actually take the air passage off (it's detachable), which only leaves me with the filter and the pipe that's connected to the intake manifold. It's not the modification I wanted but it worked haha. Mostly, I did this for the sound of the engine, but it didn't really change anything, but you can kind of tell the difference when the engine is at 3000RPM. So anyways, I'm kind of glad I did that. I'm pretty sure it's not good for the engine but we will see how it turns out. It should be fine.

Well, I have to go to school tomorrow, unfortunately, but really, what choice do I have? I'm going to have to go to the Financial Aid Centre in SUB (Students' Union Building) and ask some questions about student loan, and hopefully get the application form. So far, my plan is still a go, and I'm planning on sticking to it. If I get the job at Telus, and able to get some student loan, then I know everything is going to turn out nicely. This upcoming week is probably the most important week of my life. Everything I want to do depends on the next 2 days. Oh please, God help me.

Day 3

Saturday, April 2nd, 2011, days without my parents: 3. Once again, I woke up fairly early today. I think it was around 8 ish but then again, I had absolutely nothing to do other than checking my email and going on Facebook, I just went back to bed. So I guess I really didn't wake up at 8 haha. Anyways, I woke up again at 10, and the first thing I did was went to shower, and went out to buy the jersey I was going to buy. I actuallly really like the jersey I bought this morning. I'm not a huge fan of St. Louis Blues, but they had a lot of good players and stories back in the days, and plus, Halak was and still is an amazing goaltender so that's why I decided to buy this jersey. It was a little smaller than I thought it was going to be, but it don't really matter because I bought it for my collection, not for daily clothing kind of thing. Then I came home and watched 8 Mile. Honestly, I have never watch it before. I've seen bits and pieces of it, but I have never sat down and watched it in continous motion. I really liked it. It was very inspiring and touching movie. I'll definitely watch it again.

I was supposed to hang out with my friend Jen today, and I am pretty much still hanging out with her. She's doing her homework and I'm doing this haha. Anyways, to be honest, today wasn't as good as last time we hung out. Don't get me wrong, this doesn't mean that I'm not having fun at all. It's just that we haven't really done anything today so ya. I'm glad that she's over at my house right now but I just wish that we actually did something productive or something at least fun. Whenever we hang out, we always have a really good conversation, and I had quite a few things to talk to her about today, but it just hasn't happened yet. Well, I guess it's only 12:33am so we got a good couple hours to talk I guess haha.
I'm not really sure what I want to do tomorrow. I don't work on sundays anymore and I got like no homework to do, so I don't know. Oh actually, I think I should go to the free skating at the U of A tomorrow. I haven't skated for a week and I need to practice if I really want to do reffing. So ya, I think that's what I'm going to do tomorrow.

I just realized this now, but I think I'm becoming more 'human.' What I mean by that is that I think I'm finally maturing. Not by much though, but I'm making a pretty good progress. I always had trouble waking up in the morning, but now, I can actually wake up pretty early. Although I have to go back to bed after I wake up haha but still, I'd say it's a good progress, because I wasn't even able to wake up that early. I always woke up at like 11 ish. So I think that's a pretty big change and I'm glad it's happening. I still need to work on it though. I think that's about it. I mean, I do feel different for some reason, and I'm pretty sure I've changed a little, but I just can't think of what changed me, and what I've changed about myself. Oh well. I'd say this is a good thing.

I'm so tired right now I can barely stay awake. A beer didn't help at all nor did pops. I'm not sure if I'm going to last another couple hours. I'm thinking I should just go to bed. Ya, I think I will. Peace out.

Friday, 1 April 2011

Day 2

Friday, April 1st, 2011. Days without my parents: 2. I actually woke up really early today. Way earlier than usual, I think it was around 7:30am. It was pretty surprising because I worked last night so I thought I'd be really tired but I guess I wasn't. Anyways, for some reason, I didn't feel like going to school today. I really don't know why. So I just kind of sat around at home doing nothing for the whole morning, then I realized I had a chem lab today. I can't miss labs because if it's not reasonable excuses, you can't make up for it and the each labs worth like 5% or something I don't know but you really don't want to miss it. Ever. So I went to school at about 1. I remembered that I didn't finish my prelab so I decided to do that and that only took like half an hour. Today's lab was terrible. Even though it only took about an hour to do it, which is really short compare to any other labs we've done, but the procedure on the lab manual was written so bad I got confused on every single steps. Well, actually the wordings weren't bad, it's just that some things were missing and wasn't explained clearly so I had trouble understanding. So after a long (but it was actually really short haha) lab, I went to CAB, and just chilled there for a bit, since I missed my bus and had to wait a half an hour for the next one. Right at that moment, I received an email that could change my life.

I might've mentioned about me applying at Telus for Sales Summer Program. Well, guess what? They emailed me back, and said they wanted to invite me to their job fair thing and an interview. Finally a moment I've been waiting for. I was actually worried that I won't get any calls and/or emails from places I applied at but Telus emailed me back in like 2 days. Now, I'd assume that there's a lot of people who applied for this position. With just 5 spots available, and with not the best resume, I have to really step up at the interview. It's got to be the best one I've ever done, because, right now at this moment, my life depends on it. If I get this job, I'll make $4000 a month which means I'll have more than enough to buy myself a new car, and a rent for a room for next few months. Perfect. I really hope that the interview goes well, and get the position. I know I can be a pretty decent salesman and I hope I can show them that. Well, fingers crossed.

I actually worked again tonight. People from Lister was having like a broomball/sledge hockey thing going on so I thought, why not? I could use an extra $45. Honestly, I didn't really want to work today. After the lab, I just felt like shit and just wanted to go home and sleep, but I really had no choice, because my boss already paid me last night to work tonight so I didn't really have an option. I worked with this girl for the first time. Her name is Michelle. I've seen her and talked to her few times. She'd always work there whenever I had a game. Anyways, she's really cool. She's kind of a big talker so the shift went by really fast because we'd talk so much haha. It literally felt like it only lasted about an hour. Work wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I knew there was going to be a lot of people, and there was, but everyone cooperated and it went fast and smoothly so I can't really complain about it haha. So, overall, the work was fun. I was pretty glad that I took that shift.

I'm going to be buying another jersey tomorrow. It's St. Louis Blues jersey with Jaroslav Halak's name/number on it and it's only for $50. I'm pretty excited to have this jersey as my collection. My Canadiens jersey is still on its way, and I don't think it's going to be here till like the 4th. That's what Canada Post told me lol. Then on Tuesday night, I'll be buying a Nashville Predators jersey with Shea Weber's name/number on it. I actually got to stop purchasing jerseys. At least for a while. At a situation like this, I really need to save up tons of money. Literally.

Oh, and I'm going to be hanging out with Jen tomorrow. She's actually going to be staying over, just like last time. I'm really excited about that too. I got lots of booze rolling around in my fridge, lots of food, and a lot of movies to watch! I have a feeling that it's going to be a real good night ;)
